2019 Scholarship Winners

As area students prepare for the start of another school year, there are ten Knoebels Amusement Resort team members who have an extra $500 in their pockets. The scholarship is in recognition of their scholastic achievements and aspirations, as well as their contributions as team members. Knoebels has awarded approximately $108,000 to 216 team members since the start of the program in 1997.

Knoebels is happy to announce the 2019 Knoebels Scholarship recipients. This year’s recipients include 10 team members from nine departments who are on the path to becoming future biomedical engineers, pharmacists, educators, and more.

This year’s recipients include: 

Seth Barrett (Rides), son of Kristen Barrett and James Barrett, Elysburg, 2018 graduate of Southern Columbia Area High School, attending Ithaca College, majoring in Music Education

Alex Campbell (Playland Arcade), son of Karen and Jim Campbell, Coal Township, 2018 graduate of Shamokin Area High School, attending Duquesne University, majoring in Pharmacy

Luke Darrup (Band), son of Joseph and Julie Darrup, Kulpmont, 2016 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School, attending Penn State University, majoring in Secondary Social Studies Education

Gabriella Delbo (Crystal Pool), daughter of Robert and Kimberly Delbo, Elysburg, 2016 graduate of Southern Columbia Area High School, attending Liberty University, majoring in Public Health/Epidemiology

Emily de Manincor (Alamo), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jason de Manincor, Mount Carmel, 2019 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School, attending Susquehanna University, majoring in Finance

Maryssa Erdman (Crystal Pool), daughter of Scott and Mindy Erdman, Shamokin, 2018 graduate of Shamokin Area High School, attending Drexel University, majoring in Biomedical Engineering

Cameron Getty (JBK), daughter of Bret Getty, Marion Heights, 2016 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School, attending Bloomsburg University, majoring in Early Childhood Education

Gabriella Kaminski (Catering), daughter of Jonathan and Wanda Kaminski, Elysburg, 2019 graduate of Southern Columbia Area High School, attending James Madison University, majoring in International Business

Heather Klinger (Games), daughter of Mark and Carol Klinger, Hegins, 2018 graduate of Tri-Valley High School, attending Bloomsburg University, majoring in Early Childhood Education

Owen Metzger (Grounds), son of Seth and Sherry Metzger, Riverside, 2019 graduate of Danville Area High School, attending King’s College, majoring in Business Administration

Scholarships were awarded based on the students’ written applications, a work performance evaluation completed by the applicants’ department manager, and two external judges.

Five Knoebels team members have also been nominated for a 2019 Pennsylvania Amusement Parks Association (PAPA) scholarship.  Those students include: Seth Barrett (Rides), Luke Darrup (Band), Kendra Haight (Gift Shops), Gabriella Kaminski (Catering), and James Zack (Crystal Pool).
